>>Hi, m name is Macho and I'm a helper.
I am very proud of my job because I serve the people of my community.
I am a public service worker.
Public service workers can be hired by interviewing with a government agency or elected through a voting process.
We work in departments that impact every part of our lives, from education to health care and even the environment.
There are many different jobs in public service.
A few examples are electe officials, clerks and engineers.
Some doctors, teachers and scientists also work for the government.
Public service workers who are hired may have different levels of education or specialized training in specific areas.
These public service worker can work in different settings like schools, government offices, community centers and other places.
Elected official may not have specific training, but need to be informed about what is happening in our community and want to help make things better.
Once voted into office, elected officials typically work in government buildings.
We elect leaders to hold different levels and positions within the government.
We vote for elected officials to lead our cities, counties, our state and our country.
Elected officials serve all people, whether they voted for them or not.
The most well known publi service worker is the President of the United States who is elected by the people.
Elections and voting are important to how our government operates.
Elections are a process in which grown ups choose our leaders.
A vote is the individual choice a person makes at an election.
Would you like to see how voting works?
Come with me.
Voting is a simple process but it's an important civic duty that gives grown ups a say in how our government operates.
First, I check in with a poll worker who gives me a ballot.
Ballots show the choices I can make.
Next, I go to a voting booth to make my choices by myself.
I vote for the people who I think should be the leaders and decide on new laws.
Once I finish, I bring my ballot to a voting machine that tallie my choices and counts my vote.
The people with the most votes are chosen to be elected leaders for a period of time.
Now I can proudly wear an "I voted" sticker to encourage others to do their civic duty by voting.
Next time your grown up goes to vote, you might be able to go alon and see the process in action.
Would you like to explore a fe ways to have your own election?
Let's go.
You can practice voting by having an electio with your family or classmates.
First, decide what you will be voting on, like what game to play or what to watch.
Next, create your own ballot with your choices.
Then have your family or classmates fill out the ballot to vote for their favorite option.
And finally, count the votes to see what wins.
Voting is one way we can all practice civic engagement.
Elections and public service give us an opportunity to participate in our government.
Public service workers are important helpers because we serve everyone in our community.
